University of Guelph student dies in residence Tuesday morning

The student lived in Prairie Hall, part of U of G's South residence

A University of Guelph student died in a campus residence Tuesday morning, according to a release from the university.
"We are deeply saddened by this news, and my heart goes out to the family and friends of this student," said University of Guelph president Franco Vaccarino in a release.

The student lived in Prairie Hall, which is a part of U of G's South Residence. The cause of the student's death is still unknown. Guelph police are investigating, and according to the university, there is no risk to public safety.

"As a community, there is no greater struggle than losing one of our own, and we will ensure that students affected by this tragedy receive support and assistance," said Vaccarino.

The student's family has been notified. The student's name hasn't been released to the public
