Australia will host India for five One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) in the month of January 2016. Both the teams will lock horns with each other first in an ODI series before moving on to their next fixture.
The first ODI match will be played at Perth on January 12 before moving to Brisbane for their second game on January 15. The third game will be held at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on January 17 where the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 was held. For the next two fixtures the team will be at Manuka Oval in the Australian capital Canberra and Sydney on January 20 and 23 respectively. The final game at Sydney is expected to be a high voltage clash s India will look forward to seek revenge of their World Cup semi-final loss at this venue.
After the ODI series, the teams will then cross swords with each other in the shortest yet most action packed format T20. There will be three T20Is played in the entire series. The first T20I will be played at Adelaide on Indian Republic Day January 26. The teams will then come back again at Melbourne for their second game of the fixture on January 29. The ultimate game of the tour will then be played at Sydney on January 31.
This series will hold a lot of importance for the skippers of both the sides MS and Steven Smith (if not rested). Dhoni after calling it off from Test cricket will have to prove his worth in the shorter formats. Smith on the other hand has led his team well and this series can be a defining moment for him as a captain. India didn’t have a great run in their last series Down Under; they played well but failed to taste victory. They will be all pumped to battle for glory and seek revenge.
