Sia led Jimmy Fallon, Natalie Portman and the Roots in an ebullient rendition of the Mardi Gras classic, "Iko Iko" on The Tonight Show Wednesday.
The troupe all donning Sia wigs clicked and clacked their way through the song using an array of drums, percussion instruments and left-field noise makers, including spoons, cups, a deck of cards and a cue ball and eight-ball.
Sia sang lead on "Iko Iko," allowing herself the occasional, exuberant vocal run, while Fallon sang back-up and Portman and the Roots joined in for the song's bombastic call-and-response chorus.
"Iko Iko" was written and recorded by Sugar Boy and his Cane Cutters in 1953 under the original title "Jock-A-Mo," before becoming a hit as "Iko Iko" for the Dixie Cups in 1965. The song has since been covered by an array of artists, including Dr. John, Cyndi Lauper, the Neville Brothers and the Grateful Dead.
