Severe Weather Threat Ends After Damaging Tornadoes Strike Florida (FORECAST)



An tornado was confirmed about 6 miles southwest of Fort Myers in the morning. The tornado caused minor damage to four structures. Other parts of the Fort Myers area reported with up to 8 inches of water covering the roadways due to heavy rainfall.

Two people were struck by lightning Friday morning in Lake City, Florida. Apalachicola Regional Airport reported a wind gust of 55 mph early Friday morning.

Late Friday morning, Southwest Florida International Airport south of Fort Myers observed a wind gust of 60 mph. Winds also gusted over 40 mph in Orlando as thunderstorms moved through.

A metal roof was ripped off a shopping center in Venice, Florida, south of Sarasota late Friday morning. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

Southeast of Fort Myers in Gateway, Florida, trees were downed due to strong wind gusts when the thunderstorms moved through the area midday Friday.
Wednesday's Storms in the West

Two tornado warnings were issued in the Sacramento Valley of Northern California Wednesday afternoon, but no damage was reported from any of the storms. A trained weather spotter reported a wind gust to 71 mph near Gardnerville in western Nevada. Other strong wind gusts were reported in the region, although they were not related to any thunderstorm activity.
Tuesday's Storms in the Great Lakes, Northeast

Early Tuesday afternoon, Buffalo, New York recorded a wind gust to 64 mph with thundersnow. Strong wind gusts and a few rumbles of thunder from New York to Pennsylvania and West Virginia on Tuesday were associated with a strong cold front moving from the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley toward the East Coast.
