The Swiss artist would have celebrated her 127th birthday today and is being honoured by the search engine
The Swiss artist Sophie Taeuber-Arp is the latest individual to receive a specialcelebrating her life and work.

Taeuber-Arp was born on the 19th January, 1889, and became a world-renowned artist, sculptor and dancer.

She was known as one of the foremost artists of geometric abstraction - which forms the style of today's doodle.

Born in Davos, Switzerland, Taeuber-Arp studied in Munich, Hamburg and Zurich and met her husband, Dada artist Jean Arp at an art exhibition.

Together they moved to France and collaborated on many different projects.

Sophie Taeuber-Arp died in 1943 and is currently featured on the Swiss 50-franc bank note.

Today's Google doodle was created by artist Mark Holmes.

"This was an especially fun doodle because Sophie Taeuber-Arp was such a prolific and diverse artist," he said.

"I almost couldn’t make up my mind which of her works to draw inspiration from, and I just wanted to keep going.

"Hopefully in the end, I was able to capture the spirit of at least one aspect of her work, and help draw a few more eyeballs to her many contributions to the arts."
