Bodies found could be in connection to Amber alert issued for missing 4-year-old girl

Authorities say the bodies of a girl and a woman found in an abandoned, burned Detroit home could be connected to the notification issued to find a missing 4-year-old girl.

Police Chief James Craig said Saturday morning that investigators are working to determine whether the bodies discovered in the east side home appear to be those of Savannah Walker and her mother. The Amber Alert about Savannah was issued earlier in the morning and she was reported missing on Tuesday to authorities in Livingston County.

Craig says the connection between the cases is possible but not confirmed at this point.

Authorities say the person last seen with Savannah, a 33-year-old Detroit man, is the boyfriend of the mother. He's described as a person of interest and considered armed and dangerous.

Two bodies found in the basement of a home may be connected to an AMBER alert issued Saturday morning.

According to WOOD-TV, the bodies of a woman and a child were found after a fire in the home in Detroit's east side.

Police say the bodies could be 4-year-old Savannah Walker and her mother 39-year-old Heidi Walker.

Police are still looking to 33-year-old Marcus Hightower. Hightower is a black male, 5-foot-9 and weighs 252 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Also, the AMBER alert for Savannah is still active.

The Michigan State Police has issued an amber alert for a missing 4-year-old girl, Savannah Walker.

She was last seen in Detroit, Michigan on Tuesday. She has blonde hair and blue eyes.

Police believe Savannah is with Marcus Hightower. Hightower is a black male, 5-foot-9 and weighs 252 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

The two are believed to be in a 2004 Black Ford Explorer with the Michigan License Plate DFJ5377.

Savannah's mother, 39-year-old Heidi Walker, is also missing. She was last seen on Tuesday as well. Police say they suspect she may have been a victim of foul play. Hightower is said to be Heidi's boyfriend.
